tiers?

What are the tiers for sororities here? I'm out of state, so what houses would I have a good shot at?

Hey, I'm from out of state too. The houses that are consistently ranked "top" are Tridelt, KD, and ChiO. ADPi is typically placed right after the top tier. After that, it's pretty up in the air and depends on who you ask. I won't give my opinion because it doesn't really matter. That being said, tiers here don't really matter and nobody cares about them past freshman year. I have friends in every house regardless of "tier".

To answer your question, most houses are open to taking OOS girls but there are definitely ones who take a small number or only take girls from places like Atlanta (mostly "top" houses). KD and XO are heavily in-state. Tridelt is too, although they have taken girls from Florida, Texas, California, etc.
APhi and ZTA definitely take a lot of OOS girls, and Pi Phi and Phi Mu have their fair share too. I know a good number of girls in Kappa who are OOS as well. ADPi and AXO take some but not as many as the houses I just mentioned.
Basically just got into rush with an open mind. All the houses here are super great and also strong nationally so you'll have good alumni connections regardless of what house you choose.

Why did you have to change the dynamic? As a sorority community, we've been supporting each other and fighting back against the typical "tier" posts. I know you tried to be diplomatic by saying "all houses are super great" but you negated that with everything else you said. And look what happened....#3 came in with a ranking. That's not who we are at UNC.

Sorry, I suppose I should have made it more clear that these are the ranks that this website perpetuates and that's most likely what the OP will hear during recruitment from other PNMs. I do think it's naive to think we can hide the BS that has been posted on this site, so I'd rather be upfront and say, "this is what you're going to hear from other girls during recruitment but take it with a grain of salt because no actives in the Greek system take tiers seriously nor do we care." I didn't mean to stir the pot or anything, and I definitely don't agree with #3 posting their opinion on the rankings. Everyone's opinion should be that the tiers don't matter and you should form your opinions about the houses (by yourself) during rush, not before. Your "top" house should be the one where you fit in the best!!

TOP TIER

Top
DDD ADPi

Lower Top
KD XO

Upper Mid
AXO APhi ZTA

Middle
PM PiPhi

Bottom
KKG SSS

Like someone said above, the middle tier is pretty unstable and changes a lot depending on who you ask. This is just my opinion based on involvement, who the sororities socialize with, and most recent pledge class.

As a guy in a frat I just want to add that teir doesn't matter to me much. there is a difference between a top three and a bottom three sorority, but it's all general no one cares if one is slightly better than the other. Also, it's important to note that certain sororities mix with certain frats, which is based on teir. In all, tiers aren't super important, but they aren't meaningless

Agreed. I can pull from anywhere. The matching of top to top is just to help the weaker members.
