sophomore rush?

Usually it's guys who are friends with the pledge class the same year as him, but they just didn't want to/weren't allowed to rush freshmen year. Honestly, if you're worried about getting a bid to big 4, you won't get one. Guys that get bids (honestly from big 3 now, Phi Gam sucks) know they're going to get bids, it's just a matter of where they're going to sign.

It sounds arrogant, but you know if you're cool enough to a bid. Usually you'll have some connections to guys that are pretty similar to you to give you a gauge of the guys they're looking for and whatnot. If they're texting you weeks/months before rush even starts, you're pretty much in, and they know you're going to get bids to a lot of place, so they're trying to get you early.

Okay makes sense but how would they be able to text you weeks/months before rush unless they know you already

A lot of times they'll know you beforehand, but also if you have mutual connections they'll hit you up too

What makes them "know" that they're going to get bids? Just being really close to guys in that fraternity and knowing that they like you/want you to join?
