rushing a sorority as a sophomore transfer?
by: plshelpI'm thinking of transferring to UNC next fall (not official but I'm confident) and I was wondering if it'd be hard to get into a good sorority if I'm a sophomore transfer. Do you need to be in greek life at UNC to have fun/make friends or is greek life not a huge thing?

Hey! I was a sophomore transfer last year. I didn't have letters of recommendation or anything, but I was called back to a lot of really great houses and eventually ended up in my first choice sorority (considered "upper middle tier" I guess if you're into rankings but it seriously no one cares about that). Honestly Greek life doesn't dominate at UNC but it definitely helped me make friends quickly. You can join a bunch of clubs and probably have just as much fun without it tho!

Also there are upper classmen quotas so houses are required to pay attention to sophomores and offer bids to some so your odds of getting in at your favorite sororities are actually a little higher. Like you aren't "competing" for the same spots as all the tons of freshmen rushing. I rushed as a sophomore this year and knew literally no one in any sorority and ended up with my top pick but UNC is so fun without Greek life too so you can't go wrong.

Whoops. Sorority, not high school. And then ignore the college before high school thing. You should get a bid from somewhere for sure though!!
