dke nationally will soon shut down.

DKE with more closed chapters than open chapters is on life support. Sources say they will soon be absorbed into either Lambda Chi Alpha or Sigma Phi Epsilon. DKE nationally only has a few chapters that are considered middle to top tier and the DKE chapter of UNC is one of them the rest are mostly bottom tier. I am wondering what the DKE membership thinks?. Would you rather see the DKE sign replaces with ΛΧΑ or ΣΦΕ?

Can the DKE chapter become a local chapter not affiliated with DKE national if they merge and could we keep the DKE letters since they will soon not exist anyway?

DKE WILL be absorbed into Lambda Chi Alpha. They are jointly working to incorporate some ΔΚΕ icons and rituals into ΛΧΑ.. Expect to see the ΔΚΕ letters to come down and replaced by ΛΧΑ as soon as a year.

I am not a Lambda Chi but I know this to be true. DKE was also in negotiations with my fraternity and we were the finalist. I understand Lambda Chi was more willing to make changes to their icon and ritual since they have incorporated other fraternities in past mergers.
DKE letters are DEFINATELY headed to the fraternity graveyard. Personally I am glad my fraternity is not merging with DKE because we rejected most of their membership when they rushed us and DKE has definately been going downhill the past several years.

Actually it is true and headquarters owns the house. When the merger is complete you will have the option to turn your ΔΚΕ pin in for a ΛΧΑ pin which will also be changed to reflect the merger.
