dke nationally will soon shut down.
by: Truth hurtsDKE with more closed chapters than open chapters is on life support. Sources say they will soon be absorbed into either Lambda Chi Alpha or Sigma Phi Epsilon. DKE nationally only has a few chapters that are considered middle to top tier and the DKE chapter of UNC is one of them the rest are mostly bottom tier. I am wondering what the DKE membership thinks?. Would you rather see the DKE sign replaces with ΛΧΑ or ΣΦΕ?

It's more than a rumor. I hear DKE in its present form will not exist by probably next year. DKE has more closed chapters than open ones and within the open ones there are only a handful considered middle tier or higher. The vast majority are considered bottom tier. I don't know why any strong national fraternity like Sig Ep or Lambda Chi would want to touch the stench that DKE has become. Perhaps they can just switch over the middle tier DKE and above and close the chapters where there is already a ΛΧΑ or ΣΦΕ? Chapters of DKE that do not have a ΛΧΑ or ΣΦΕ chapter might be able to be salvaged. I just hope either ΛΧΑ or ΣΦΕ chapters will have a say in whether to invite DKE members into their brotherhood.

Why do you even care? I care about my experience at UNC and DKE is awesome, but Lambda Chi and SigEp suck. National reputations only matter if you want to get involved as an alumni....which I don't. It's just a way for loser frats to try to get validation. But at UNC.... now......DKE is one of the big four and has been for years.

That is precisely why DKE is falling and will soon close, just like other businesses in trouble they did not keep up with the times and tried to rely on their past , just like the DKE chapter here. On the other hand Sig Ep and Lambda Chi are the fastest growing fraternities and growing even more rapidly even though they both sit among the top in membership nationally.
