anyone rush as a sophomore after dropping as 1st y

Did anyone rush as a freshman, drop during rush, then rush as a sophomore and accept a bid? Is it true houses have a once cut, always cut policy? How was your experience? Do houses record they dropped you once?

If you dropped early without offending anyone, you might be ok. If you made it to round three or worse, Pref night, and THEN dropped, they'll remember you. If you offered a bid somewhere and didn't take it, you can hang it up. Houses talk and you'll be remembered.

So if you got dropped first/second round your first year, you might be reconsidered as a sophomore?

You can if you've met girls in the house and they can speak up for you. If nothing has changed since last year, you will possibly get dropped again for the same reasons you were dropped last year. My advice to you - have a more open mind. You've already missed out on a whole year of sisterhood and fun because you didn't give all of the houses a chance. Go all the way through recruitment, all the way to bid day. Accept a bid and give that house a chance. If you truly can't find one redeeming quality you can drop and not be initiated. Of course then you'll never be Greek again, but you can say you gave it your best shot.

It's fine and normal to be nervous. Very few houses will 'waste' a bid on a Junior, when that bid could go to a freshman who would be a four year investment. That being said, a few Juniors get bids, but usually they are transfers from other schools that already know girls in the houses. I would seriously like to stress that you should give it your all during rush. Don't drop out when houses drop you....you can only join one anyway! And think about this - just getting into UNC is a weed-out process in itself. Everyone that gets accepted is smart, involved and worthy of your friendship. Tiers and "tent talk" only matter to PNMs, and it does you a disservice. Actives have friends in other houses and we really don't pay any attention to tiers.

What does your house do when you get sophomores rushing again? Is "once cut, always cut" true?

We have so many girls come through our house, remembering every one would be impossible. But if the girl was cut for a specific reason then we will remember that. For example, if she had a bad reputation in High School and sisters of mine knew her personally, she'll be cut again without question. But we don't have a specific "once cut, always cut" rule.
