sorority rush from a graduate
by: GradOkay y'all, now that I am a grad student and effectively unemployed, I have the time to give my two cents about this whole Greek Rank thing. First of all, once you graduate, the "tier" of the sorority you were in becomes completely irrelevant. What truly matters is the person you are and the character that you have. Furthermore, the bs reputation a sorority has tends to be untrue, as some of my closest friends were all from different sororities and are all equally as awesome. Lastly, when selecting a sorority, look at the girls in it and not its perceived reputation. Ask yourself, are these the people that will make me a better person? Are these the people I can see being best friends with? Some of my friends selected a sorority because it was "top tier", and they ended up regretting their decision immensely. I am also going to add that basing a sorority's "status" off of attractiveness is just precipitating an outdated patriarchal system that I think needs to change. To me, the quality of a sorority depends on the quality of the people, its involvement, and it's sisterhood. When I rushed, that's what I looked for, and it has honestly helped make these last four years some the best years of my life. Choose well and wisely. Good times. Go Heels!!!
