sorority rush question

Are recommendations necessary at UM? My SO's niece will be going here next fall and she's interested in rushing. (Her mom was Greek at South Alabama, but her sorority doesn't have a chapter here.) I had friends in all the sororities back in the day, but the subject of recs never came up. If she needs them, would be good to know now ...

I would recommend her getting as many rec letters as she can. They help with some of the better sororities at montevallo, but it really does come down to what the sorority is looking for in a pledge class.

In my opinion, a letter of rec really just makes a name more memorable! For many sororities, it has no true effect on anything official, but it still might make her stand out a little!

UM may be a small school, but it's still the South. Recommendations are indeed necessary.
