rec letters

I'll be a freshman next fall and I was wondering what's the deal with rec letters for sororities. Are they necessary, how many do you need, and if they're not necessary what difference would it make if I had one?

They're definitely not required. Essentially they will put you on the house's radar but it doesn't garauntee you a bid. It's still easily possible to get a bid without a letter if rec.

Definitely not a necessity here. Overall our formal recruitment is much more chill than most houses. Even without being a legacy or having a letter of rec, you till have a very good chance of getting into any house.

ayy im a guy but whats with letter of rec? from who are you supposed to get those from? Previous teachers in hs? family?
