I am transfering to U of I this fall and will be a sophomore but wanted to join the greek system. Is it possible to rush as a sophomore and still get a bid?

absolutely!

Every chapter has over 150 women. There will be women of all types in every house. Some chapters may be, on the whole, more into partying, or more into sports or more into whatever, but the bottom line is that you can make lifelong friends in any house.

The ODOS published numbers. Virtually nobody gets dropped from every house. If you put on your big girl pants and act polite at every house, and give a fair shot to every one, you will get a bid.

As for the money stuff asked earlier: you can ask questions at some point during rush, but be careful when you are at the houses with lower dues; they may charge separately for formal, barndance, etc., which is okay, but it can make it hard to compare properly.

I' ll be coming in as a junior and heard mixed thoughts as rushing as an upper class man. Is it too late to join? Or less likely to be welcome in all the houses?

I rushed a fraternity as a junior, and everyone in the house was fine with it. However, assuming your major is difficult, I wouldn't take more than 12 hours the semester you pledge.

I saw photos of Phi Sigma Sigma from Quad Day but they don't have the house. Are they coming back next semester perhaps?

How accurate are the financial sheets handed out during rush? Are the semester fees really that low for some houses or are there hidden fees like shirts, socials, etc.?
