Fraternities are not solely based on drinking, but why the hell would someone want to join a fraternity were you cannot even drink in the house?

For a lot of houses you are not supposed to drink in the chapter house. There are a lot of rules set up by the national fraternity to save their asses if something goes wrong. However, these are just rules and no one follows them anyways. Why would you join a fraternity if it was a dry house? There's no such thing.

they have pregames at apartments etc.

lol. as a guy in a fraternity. Im indifferent to drinking in the house. If the house has a policy of no drinking in the hosue, it makes it easier to clean up for the nationals. But having drinking in the house, it is way more fun. Pros and cons to both
