spring pledgeship/rush

by:

I've heard from some people that spring pledgeship has a larger time commitment than fall pledgeship, but I've also heard the complete opposite from others. What do you guys think?
I know it probably varies house to house, so to give you a better idea I'm looking at KDR, Phi Psi, DU, and FIJI.
Also, do you think it is possible for me to rush and pledge this semester even though I will be doing about 12 hours of research a week and taking 15 credit hours (Organic Chem, Diff Eq, MCB 150, and Physics 212). I'm only a freshman, so I could hold off until Fall.
I rushed this past fall and was pledging a house, however, I dropped them when I realized many of them, who I hadn't met earlier, weren't really the kind of guys I could see myself wanting to be brothers with.

I was a spring pledge from one of the four houses you mentioned and regardless I think you should rush. The rushing period lasts a few weeks so you will be able to see how much work you have for the 12 hours of research and 15 credit hours. Pledgeship can be thought of as an additional 3-4 credits so it may be too much to handle but you should still rush, doesn't mean you need to sign your bid.

I was a fall pledge for one of the four houses mentioned above. That's a heavy courseload but manageable with good time management. When you rush don't be afraid to ask different brothers what their major/courseload was and how the pledgeship was for them.

honestly that sounds pretty rough. those are tough classes as is and then with research... your grades might suffer from pledgeship
