There is nothing special about Sig parties- the 20 girls attending are the desperate Theta 26s that don’t have boyfriends in SAE, ZBT, or Delts. Have you seen some of most recent Sig pledge classes? MID.

Phi Delt is super middle class - used to be low key rich a long time ago. Sig Nu kids are mostly from very average suburbs and little redneck towns. If anything I would say Alpha Delts and Aggers if anyone - but like the above post said, Illinois is not a destination school for children of the wealthy.

My midsize frat had kids from the wealthiest zip codes in America, but also kids on financial aid. There really is no "rich house" here.

Generally speaking, look to those frats who built and have owned their original houses for a hundred years to find wealth & longevity. Phi Delts, ATO, Sigs, Sigma Nu & Delta Chi are generational. Others are mostly a "flash in the pan."

Apologies for bursting anyone's bubble with this. People are sensitive over this category in particular.

Many houses find themselves in behavioral or financial hot water every 20 years or so. Stealth wealth alumni "bail out" their chapters to maintain continuity and ownership. Most, with marginal wealth, are left to "dangle in the wind" aka Alpha Delts.

The "rich kid" house concept stirs discontent because it conveys privilege. Today's woke culture inspires to shatter any connotation of connectedness or exclusivity. But it's human nature to gravitate toward those of similar cultural interest or social status.

It is not a hot button because there are barely any kids from rich families here. Even in "top houses" most kids are from middle and upper middle class families. Sorry Illinois is NOT a destination school for the truly wealthy.

Another thing - I do not like Alpha Delts but they probably have more money (as a frat, not as individuals) than any house here. They sold their old 100year old property for over $7 Million and upgraded. They most likely have a LOT of money left. They sux but those are just fax.

It is not a "hot button", it is annoying because unlike schools like Bama, Cornell and others - we have no rich houses here. You can look for yourself where their kids come from - mostly very middle class suburbs and small towns. Anyone spreading this either does not go here, or is from Sig Nu trying to perpetuate a myth. Newsflash - kids from Des Plaines and Yorkville are not from rich families.

No I dislike Alpha Delts because they are a group of nothing random kids who think they are cool because of the physical location. Oh well, AKL was not about to come back anytime soon so someone had to take their house.

I have been to a couple of Sig Nu open parties - they are not stealing anyone's girl, lol. Credit where due, they have some philanthropies with good sororities, but those girls generally don't socialize with the guys otherwise.

Because girls like guys with money.
Having said that, you might want to steer clear of gold diggers and the "rich house" might be a negative.
