I would say all chapters are selective regardless of formal or informal recruitment. You don’t need to be known by anyone to be able to join a sorority.
You need to showcase your personality and interests, what is most important to you through a Greek experience. Attend the informal or COB events and the active chapter members will get to know you and share their interests too.
