rushing as a junior worth it?
by: juniorI'm currently a sophomore but transferring from community college next year and ive always wanted to be in a sorority but as a junior wouldn't this be hard? im not aiming for top house or anything but at the same time i dont want to be a bottom house. would letters of rec help and a good gpa sort of make up for being a junior? what else can i really do?

If you wanna live in senior year then sure. You’d be living with a bunch of sophomores as a senior though. Sororities will understand that you’re a transfer and being a junior wouldn’t be a disadvantage...they actually like taking upperclassmen. Rec letters don’t do much at U of I.

I was in one of the big, well established houses. We DID take Juniors. My pledge daughter was one. She was really involved, had terrific grades and everyone liked being around her. Perhaps the biggest downside was that she didn't have a lot in common with the Freshman pledges; she meshed better with the older girls. You have nothing to lose by rushing as at the very least, you will meet some new people. I really hope you have a good experience and good luck to you!

hi OP here, thank you all for the support. I feel like I should also clarify that the reason I don't want to be bottom house is just because I've been told they'll be the only ones to take me and other sororities won't bother with a junior, and I feel like if I wouldn't fit in with a house that almost pities me either. I don't really care for the rankings but I do care about the reputation. Thanks everyone!!
