Greek life anywhere gets you involved around campus and allows you to get the upper hand in social aspects with not only students but professors as well. Honestly the best time of my life was college and I have greek life to thank for that. Still able to come down for formals and tailgates to meet up with my lifelong friends I have made through greek life. With that being said, Greek life gives their all to the school and the school admin give literally nothing back. I would recommend rushing, but do not expect the school to have your back with anything, even though greek life is the entire reason for student involvement around campus anyway.

The Greeks have fun here. Very involved with the college. It’s on a smaller scale Vs the big schools, but quality members all around. Not much in Hammond except selu campus so it’s very chill. Plenty of night life and events right next to campus.

Take your Thursday nights to the next level. RUSH!

As an alumni of a fraternity at SELU I really enjoyed my time and wouldn’t change a thing about my experience. You meet great friends that wouldn’t have otherwise met through your time in college. Hammond can be really slow on weekends, but if you get involved with an organization there’s so much to do! You’ll have multiple groups of friends to go out downtown with, study with, and play sports with. Greek village is flawed and could be so much better. It’s bland and cookie cutter style, but they fit a good amount of members. The fraternities should have off campus housing (some already do) while sororities and new organizations keep greek village. They should redo the housing to at least make everyone have a unique style. It would lead many more students get interested in joining. Parking is also a disaster. New volleyball/ basketball courts and things of that nature would be nice. There’s some drama within everything, but nothing too crazy. As far as school perks I think the greeks should get priority registration for classes, which would interest students who strive for the best grades. With its few flaws I still loved my time in school and being a member of the greek community. TLDR: If you want the best out of college go greek!

Great Greek scene in Hammond, LA. Very cool little college town school.

Truely they could have a bigger greek life but they do have a healthy ome thats not going anywhere, they do to mich for the university

Only 12 active organizations total so very small. The houses/housing department are terrible. Greeks at SLU are very active on and off campus. The social scene really depends on the organization but there is plenty to do downtown on a Thursday. More fraternities on campus but sororities normally have 100+ members each so way more women. Hazing depends on the group but several organizations are adamant about no hazing policies. Getting a bid isn't too hard from any of the organizations, especially fraternities though.
