They are so big yet their parties blow... I know they look good on paper but really why would you join a fraternity that just treats you as another addition to their numbers?

Like everyone else has said, they look good on paper but not something you join for a lifelong brotherhood. A lot of them regret joining and have pulled away from the organization.

Betas only look good on paper. When recruiting, they want to know what demographic you can bring to their fraternity - will you improve their gpa? Help them win at Ims? They can brag about all of their "accomplishments&q uot; but the brotherhood just isn't there. Boys join the fraternity because they think it will be good for their reputation, rather than joining for lifelong friendship.

Beta's social experience is very limited without they having a house. Yes, technically they have a "chapter house," but it barely houses any significant percentage of the chapter. This also takes away from their brotherhood aspect. Of course everyone has heard of two betas being in the same class and not knowing each other, but it is true that they have the biggest divisions, or cliques, in their fraternity which really divides them up into many groups, instead of one big fraternity.

The negative reviews for beta come from other fraternities who hate losing recruitment, IM's, and grades to this fraternity every year. ask any professor on campus and they'll say they like having betas in their class more than any other type of guy. girls say "date a beta" for a reason. ask them why unless you're scared.
