top fraternities
by: Future Cat
So I plan on rushing in the fall, and I've been waiting for this moment my entire life. Both my parents were Greek, and my dad was even President of a top fraternity. I know I won't be getting the southern plantation style homes that I always dreamed about, but who has the best houses and parties?( I know its more about parties, but if they have great parties it means they are fun guys to hang around.) I plan to go where I fit in, but I want to get an idea of a couple I should zone in on and plan to go to summer rush events.
Thanks

1. Delt: Huge chapter size, largest house, often mixes with Zeta and DZ (top sororities)
2. ATO: Known for good parties, and use to be known for owning IFC and ASG
3. Toss up
-Pi Kap: House outside of city limits, good parties, not very involved on campus, but fun
-KA: True "old southern" frat...comes with racism. House literally on campus, freshman girls like to go to their house because of that
-Kappa Sig: One of the oldest fraternities on campus, they are in a lot of trouble with the school right now and are laying low
6. Pike: good allumni involvement, coming up in intramurals, parties are lacking
7. Sigma Chi: coming up in all aspects, on the rise
8-and on Everyone else:
Phi Psi: "multicultural" throw a lot of parties at a lot of places but often run out of alcohol early and girls leave
SAE: use to be good at intramurals, minimal campus involvement
Sig Tau: not much involvement, ok parties at a VERY small house
Sig Nu: haze the hell out of their pledges, workout a lot, do stuff with the Strutters, but not much else
ODPhi: not "traditional" fraternity, almost 100% mexican
Phi Tau: just started up, does not really have a gameplan yet
Theta Chi: overweight membership, recent start up, struggling
MEN: not a real fraternity, but throw good parties
TKE: kicked off campus for hazing, continue to operate despite
Lambda Chi and Phi Delt continue to exist as Texas 7s or Texas Phi, but have pretty much been abandoned by their nationals and the school.\n\n\n\n\n

Honestly if you're too worried about which place you want to focus on, you should just quit and give up now. Being new to Rush means going out and experiencing each chapter on your own. A contingency plan will not help you in this case... Especially if wanting to join a "top house." I see my chapters name brought up on here quite often, but I will promise you; getting your information off here will not aid in your decision making process. Mostly because your decision DOES NOT MATTER, it is up to the CHAPTER. Word of advice, visit fraternity websites, sign up for rush online and through IFC and then get to know everyone. If you don't get to know a good number of my chapters members, then you won't stand a chance in rush. And remember, Greek life isn't just about partying, boozing, women, etc... It's your time, effort you put into it, money, brotherhood and philanthropy... Best of luck.

@Frat? You start off by saying do not get an idea of what houses I might like to join but then say I need to know a ton of guys???? Well that just dumb. But does not matter, I'm already in contact with the top fraternities so I will get to know them. And I know its not about just partying, which is what my comment said(guess you did not read it), and as far as money goes. I'm pretty sure I said both my parents were Greek, so that should let you know I am doing just fine. Dues are a joke here, 600 dollars a semester? I've spent more than that in one weekend.

If you're so great and feel the need to talk down to the guys in frats at TSU YOU"RE the IDIOT none of the houses have to bid you. And your attitude about being successful and rich etc... --REALLY??? maybe you should go to Harvard or Yale--oh that's right daddy couldn't get you in because he didn't go there!Grow up! I think you think way to highly of yourself--if you were that great you wouldn't have to work so hard promoting yourself on an anoynomous website--people would just know it! douch bag
