final thoughts going into bid week
by: good luck babiesFor those of you going into your final day of recruitment, pref night, bid day for sorority or fraternity, good luck. Coming to Texas State, I was undecided about what I thought about greek life, you hear good things and terrible things. Going greek has been the best decision I could have made. It gave me a group of immediate friends and made my first year of college so much better than I could have ever imagined. As you prepare to make your decisions, realize that the perception and tier of the house that you are looking at really doesn't matter. What matters are if you are looking for a real connection, and if you found that during recruitment with a house that maybe top tier, mid-tier or bottom tier, go with your gut. Go to the house that you can see yourself hanging out with these people, not just on chapter nights and events, but all the time for the next 4 years. For the people that you can see being the ones that end up in your wedding party, and the ones you call when you are older just to catch up and have a laugh. Greek life will give that to you if you let it, but you have to find the one that is right for you. I have seen people join the wrong sorority or fraternity and it wasn't a good fit, but it was a bid from a top tier so they didn't feel like it was a good idea not to take it, and spend the next year or two miserable and feeling like an outsider until they finally drop. Go with your first instinct, with the group that makes you feel comfortable, and be happy. Best of luck to all of you over the next 2 days! Enjoy the process!
