pledgeship
by: RushingFreshman here want to rush next fall. Couldn't afford it this semester. I want a little bit of hazing but not anything too bad/dangerous? Any frats I should stay clear of?

whatever you do, DO NOT join one of the 4 ones that got kicked off. They are taking 'pledge classes' but THEY ARE NOT REAL MEMBERS OF THE FRATERNITY ANYMORE. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. Otherwise, if you don't want bad hazing, don't do kappa sig. Any of the rest are ok. SAE or sigma chi are good choices.

Before accepting a bid from a fraternity not recognized by Texas State University's office of Greek Affairs or is not a member of Texas State's Interfraternity Council (IFC), contact that fraternity's national office (do this yourself) and ask if they will initiate you if you pledge their chapter at Texas State University. Get it in writing from the national office. If their answer is they will not initiate from Texas State or if you get no answer, don't waste your time or money.

Actually, any IFC fraternity with an mean average IQ above 90, would likely not be interested in affiliating anyone interested in participating in any kind of hazing activity in any way. Hazing is the main reason Texas State fraternities are probated or suspended by the university and the remaining fraternities are likely not interested in joining the four mentioned in the OP.

rush wherever you wanna - the 4 frats that got kicked off IFC are still doing parties/things i hear; they're still great guys, being kicked off IFC doesnt change that; and apparently they're doing unofficial, non-IFC, "underground" rush (Idk if someone can confirm this but this is what I heard from one of the 4 frats' hardcore groupies) but just dont have their official IFC frat charter/chapter here anymore for a couple of years.
But the other commenters are right , if you want to be in an IFC recognized frat, do your research and see where you fit in - there's pretty much gonna be hazing no matter what though

Yeah you could rush those four frats but you wouldn't be an "official" member, your son would never be a legacy, you probably wouldn't get a pin or heck even a legit composite photo. Seems too sketchy and if you really want to be in one of those four frats just go to a school that has them LEGITIMATELY recognized by the school and ifc.
