It is not like formal recruitment at all. Not every chapter does spring rush. Last semester ADPi and Zeta didn't do it. It is much more casual and more about who you know. With some chapters, you have to get invited to rush them in the spring and it is only like a day or two for a few hours each day. The pledge classes in the spring are much smaller as well. Maybe like 15 people max compared to almost 90. But then again, a lot less people rush in the spring, so the numbers are kind of proportionate to each other.
#3 by: Don't hold your breath
Very few get in during spring rush. It's all about who you know. It's when someones cousin transfers in or a random roommate you live with who you've gotten to know and like so you get them a bid. Some sororities can't give snap bids so they have to put on a small spring rush when in reality there's only 4 spots open. They already know who's getting a bid.
#4 by: Realistically
There is no such thing as a "spring rush". When a sorority ends up being in a position where they have to spring rush they normally only have to fill 4-7 spots and they already know which 4-7 girls they want to take. The only reason the sororities are required to put on a formal recruitment during spring is because they have to.

yeah it's just to give the appearance of being fair when really everyone knows pretty much who we want
