I hope that once the hostility from this week has passed, the sororities will come together to fight the beast: SMU. Eliminating the Panhellenic and IFC advisers so that SMU deans have total control over the system is just one more step in trying to diminish the Greek system at a heavily Greek school. This has been in the works for years and although they're totally out of their minds, SMU is trying to accomplish this.

I am so hoping for some other system - SMU is so far behind, honestly I don't know who is running it but I know the inmates are running the asylum! Time to get control!!!

I used to resent the advisers because I thought they were biased and prejudiced against certain houses. Now I see that they were a much-needed buffer and are so much better than what's going on now. Can we not bring national panhellenic in on this?! If SMU runs the Greeks out, they can kiss that steady flow of donations goodbye.

I think w need to rethink the whole process without losing those donations, many universities have done it and SMU can too. We just need to say want a better system and let our donors be a part of the change, are you kidding many would welcome it.

By: right but are we?

I agree that SMU admins have some kind of agenda going on and that we need to change things up a bit. Unfortunately, there's this unrealistic idea that the houses are all going to be on a level playing field one day and that's just not going to happen - there will always be houses that are more desirable than others. You can't name a school where this isn't the case.

Of course, all great universities have one, but SMU's is very outdated and old. The girls are starting to talk about the differances, and yes some houses are more desireable but should legacies always be welcome, even if they are thrashy and undesirable, do houses need to accept this? Some very classy ladies were past up for legacies this year, are we being fair? Because someone is a legacy are they always a good choice, how much weight should they get, there is a lot of new money out there, is SMU taling advantage of this????

Good lord! This is brutal! My daughter is in one of the top 3 sororities and is loving the experience. But I'm sure glad I was never greek!
Life's too short for this much drama.
