fell in love with a house but got cut
by: sadI fell in love with a house during recruitment and then got cut. The house I was left with, I didn't connect with the girls... AT ALL. Esp not compared to the other house. So I dropped, which is something I thought I would never do because it seemed so trivial to do that. Now I don't know what to do. The house I wanted wasn't even " top tier" Anyone have any sound advice? I really dont want to rush again in the spring.

Make contact with your favorite Sorority choice House. Contact the highest Chapter Officer you met. There may be a few open PC slots for each House.
Decisions for consideration are possible this week, due to drops. Do not speak with any other pledges, they may back stab you.

I am going to guess that the house you had left is one that you would consider "lower" than you deserve and so you cut them because of course you couldn't connect with girls that everyone at SMU thought so little of. It's too bad that that was your one shot at being greek.
There are a lot of girls in every house. I am just going to bet that if you hadn't been so judgmental, you would have pledged that house and found girls in the house that you did connect with. Maybe not as many, but hey.... The girls in the house you liked didn't feel like they connected with you.

I'm not the OP but my experience was extremely similar - I too fell in love with a house but was cut right before preference day and was instead invited back to a house I disliked and couldn't connect with. I was devastated and dropped out of recruitment. The house I wanted was actually a lower tier house and the house I had left but didn't want is a middle tier house. For all you know, it was the same for the OP.

Of all the comments I've ever read about not connecting with the one house you had left, it's always the one greek rank concedes is the lowest house. So I'm betting I know which house she had left. I agree that with as many girls are there are in a house, anyone can find girls to connect with. If you say you can't, it's likely that it's the house's reputation that you can't connect with. Which is sad. Likely the OP won't have a chance to be greek and experience the sisterhood that lasts a lifetime. My mom and grandma are still active in their alum groups, so I know it doesn't just last four years.
