fall sorority recruitment

Hi Y'all,
I'm potentially transferring to SMU next fall- how does fall recruitment work at SMU (do you need recommendations) and what sororities are participating this year (if any)?
Also do sophomores stand a chance at getting a bid during formal recruitment?

Most sororities at SMU don't participate in fall rush because they have already met quota for how many girls they are supposed to take. It should be especially true this year because about 200 girls were dropped/cut from rush during formal recruitment in the spring. However, there is definitely a spot for sophomores in formal recruitment. Each house has to keep a certain number of spots open. I know my house took about 6 sophomores in our PC this year and a couple of transfers, so no worries! Good luck!

Chio, AXO and DG haven't had fall rush in years. Not sure about GPHI but wish them well. Anyone would be lucky to get a spot in any sorority at SMU

Piphi and Kappa always have openings come fall, you might want to try them.

AXO did fall recruitment in 2012. I have several friends that received and accepted bids during that time. However, it will probably only be GPhi doing fall recruitment this year. If other houses have open spots by some chance (girls dropping, small pledge class, etc) and are under total and forced to COB, they will take 3-4 girls that they personally know and are already interested in.

That is quite a blatant lie considering that AXO had the largest pledge classes of all the sororities for 2 years in a row with close to 60 new members in 2012 and 2013. DG was right there with them in numbers.

AXO did do well and get numbers, but they also had a couple open spots come fall, and took a couple girls. If anyone dropped or transferred, it is very likely they could choose to extend bid, although they might choose not to.
