Let’s all take a minute

My heart goes out to Theta. I can’t speculate about what happened; I wasn’t there. Mistakes were made, but no doubt some girls in that chapter had nothing to do with it. It’s a sad time for theta, smu, and the Greek community.
Thetas, you have an opportunity to act with grace here. Instead of “lawyering up” and going underground, instead of being rebellious and seeking revenge, I have a suggestion. Forgive. Let it go. Move on. Be kind to others and quit talking about it. Get off social media. Go to church, sing a hymn, do something nice for the Dallas community. Use your resources to help the world. Spend the rest of your time at smu in a positive way. Please know there are people praying for you all.

I agree with this but the also need time to grieve and have every right to in their own way. I'm sure members are devastated and heartbroken. I'm sure they feel betrayed by nationals who I'm pretty sure didn't come to campus to announce this to the entire chapter before it happened.
Members may feel very sad or very angry at this situation. Let them express their feelings. I agree they shouldn't take a legal route or seek revenge. But if it were my chapter I would feel so sad that I would not be able to spend time together with all of my sisters in the same place. I am not best friends with everyone in my chapter but I do enjoy every member's presence.
I too hope they take the high road but I also understand that not every Theta's reaction will be the same. I don't see anything wrong with forming their own group if they are allowed, without going underground of course.
I truly wish them the best and understand if they have a hard time looking positively at their situation right away.

They sure can't form their own approved campus group because of the liability. If I were a Theta active, I would go alum.
