what do y’all mean by “wealthy”???

by:

I keep hearing that girls who go here are wealthy but to some ppl that means parents making $100k a year and to others that’s 400k so around how much do girls parents make here??? I’m asking bc I want to have fun and go to nice dinners and I tend to get jealous easily so I don’t wanna lose out on fun. How much do girls spend a week on average here?

If you tend to get jealous & are the type to worry about who has what, don’t go here!!!

Also, 400K is not wealthy.
Also, people here don’t care.

If you get jealous do NOT go to smu. There are lots of other schools you can have a great time at

If your parents can afford to pay full tuition at SMU without scholarships, tuition breaks or other aid -- you are wealthy, whether you think so or not. Traditionally, people who go to SMU are not ostentatious. But there are tell tale signs like, cars, condos near campus, etc.

I said traditionally most students were not ostentatious - back when Methodist clergy dependents received full (not just partial) tuition breaks for both undergrad and grad schools. A pretty large population of undergrads had little to no discretionary money to spend. So flaunting wealth was considered gauche.

Yes, there are a lot of kids from wealthy families at SMU. Because most of them were not smart enough/hard working enough to get into more elite universities, they focus on showing off their current wealth.

Whether or not they will still be wealthy in 20 years is the big question...
