First, during recruitment, sorority members talking with pnm's about other pnm's is a recruitment violation. Second, a pnm talking bad about another, at any time, is a worse reflection on her than whoever she's targeting. Third, recruitment on the sorority side is actually about looking for the positive in the pnm's and focusing on finding the ones we want, not about finding reasons to cut. And last, yes, we would verify a rumor; it's not hard.
