SMU's increasing popularity is ruining recruitment

by: harsh truth

SMU used to be a school that only the elite would attend. Now that everyone wants to be apart of the "in" crowd by rushing and pledging kappa, pi phi, and theta, many private school girls who would be better off at state schools or other private universities are coming to smu just for the glamorous social life. There were way too many girls in this year's freshman class which resulted in a bunch of disappointment. To any high school senior reading this who is considering SMU, think long and hard. This school is for the elite. If you are dreaming of joining a sorority and being an "it girl", perhaps consider another college unless you have real money and social skills. SMU is being overrun by too many wannabes and screwing things up for the collective during rush.

Who are you to tell anyone where they would be better off?
Out of curiosity what’s real money to you?
Give me a $$ range.
You sound threatened by the wannabes. If they were really just wannabes, how could they mess it up for you lol.
What defines elite girls?

Why are private school girls better off at state universities?

This is a joke, right?! Not sure exactly what you are saying (...and I am betting you are a communications major, too!). Sooo...SMU is supposedly becoming "more popular"? Perhaps as a safety school for kids not smart enough to get into UT, A and M, or private universities like USC or Vanderbilt. Maybe more scholarships are now being made to bring in smarter students who normally would not attend there. It seems like that would be a good thing over all, but I guess that interferes with your warped self-perception of elitism you have (which is shared by very, very few folks outside the Dallas metro area.) The post above should be provided by the SMU recruiting office to all applicants, so they can see they might be attending a University that is not only second rate, but also unfriendly and arrogant.

BTW: Hope those classes in Excel are going good, as the job market for secretaries/admin assistants should be heating up!
