SMU Spring Recruitment is committed to honor legacies.

100% of SMU panHELLenic's executive board are legacies.

Sorority 1-3 PCs are packed with legacies. Over 90%.
Sorority 4-6 PCs are loaded with legacies. Over 85%.

The remaining 5-15% sorority 1-6 PC members are from Big Chapter contributors, Famous Families and Star Athletes. The remaining 3-5% are student leaders or proven academic scholars.

The Average Non-Legacy PNM will be corralled into sororities 7-8. Legacy lead panHELLenic and the university will use numerous pressure tactics. The WORST is the university tuition and housing full refund deadline BEFORE recruitment results are announced. Then the university 50% refund deadline kicks-in just days after the results are announced. Leaving the Newly Shocked GDI no time to pack and enroll in another university for the Spring semester. "Trapped" for an expensive $50 grand Spring semester. Just as Legacy lead panHELLenic and the university designed it.

Then...the COB illusion. Newly shocked GDIs are encouraged to participate in COB, where Sororities 7 & 8 are the ONLY remaining options available.

Only 360 PNMs accepting bids from sororities 1-6 will experience the legendary SMU Greek life experience. An additional 60 will accept bids from 7 & 8, leaving on average 300 newly shocked GDIs each Spring semester.

RELEASE the "Spring 2020 Legacy Disclosure Report" and for the past 3 years. Everyone is aware of Legacy lead panHELLenic's coverup attempts. You are NOT going to defraud the 2021 Spring PNMs with your PREDETERMINED LEGACY PC RECRUITMENT.

If this report is available in the Legacy lead panHELLenic Office, DISCLOSE the Spring 2020 results and for the past 3 years. SPILL the results on a GR Post. Most PNMs are too intimidated by Legacy lead panHELLenic to request this report. They are concerned they would be labeled as a trouble maker by Legacy lead panHELLenic.

Spring 2020 New Shocked GDI Editorial:

As a newly shocked GDI, SMU has really changed this Spring semester. All of the sorority PCs have become harsh cliques. They eat together in the cafeteria, sit together in class, study together and go to pee together.

My roommate is in a PC, so most nights I am alone in my dorm room. We used to do things together, now she does not have the time. Between Chapter & PC meetings, mixers, parties and other PC activities, they are too busy to hang with GDIs.

We (GDIs) are a group of @300 who stay in dorms & watch TV streaming, the Bachelor & Shopping Network. Pretty depressing knowing our parents paid almost $50 grand for this semester. Most of us (GDIs) are now mostly concentrated on which university we will transfer to this Summer or Fall.

The university & Panhellenic have not committed Newly Shocked GDIs any time or a budget for social activities during this semester. There are a few basketball games to attend and Program Council may have movies or an event or two.

WE ARE THE FORGOTTEN.

We paid almost $50 grand for this semester and feel like the university is asking & waiting for us to leave. Clearly the university for the Spring semester relies on Greek Life almost exclusively for student's social life. GDIs time in the evening is spent deciding on which university to transfer next semester. We are concerned about "stranger danger" in such a big city, so most of us do not leave the campus at night.

We are all stunned the university risks losing almost 300 freshmen girls each calendar year to GDI shock. Looking back, Panhellenic is to blame for not being "more forthcoming" about the limited true openings for the top 6 legacy-saturated sororities to 750 PNMs. The university is to blame for scheduling recruitment to entrap 300 girls for 2 exorbitantly expensive semesters. Then both dropping us with limited social events or activities for the captured Spring semester.

As the GDI drives off campus in mid-May, she & her family spent $100 grand for her freshmen year earning 30 credit hours. Only 18 credit hours will be transferable to her transfer university.

The GDI will need to immediately begin summer session for 6 credit hours at her transfer university lasting through early August. Then if at UT, she will go straight into sorority recruitment & begin her pledgeship in late August. Fall classes begin & she will be initiated late November in her sophomore year.

Then Spring classes & another summer session. Continuing straight into her Junior year. Finally after 3 years of non-stop classes, the summer after her Junior year she will be caught up. However, her academic advisor strongly recommends a summer internship due to her lack of work experience. This means another summer away from her family. Finally by graduation, she can spend a few weeks with her family after being away for 4 long years.

Sadly, @ 50% transferring GDIs burn-out by their Junior year and begin real life. SMU panHELLenic has no empathy or concern for GDIs.

Our hearts just bleed for you poor forgotten and helpless little snowflakes.

We see PanHELLenic paid Greek Rank to REMOVE the GDI Terrible Week Post. The points made on that Post were read by over 400 viewers. Lets all hope there will be changes made to the manipulated recruiting process next year.

The major factual points were as follows:

The University in 2015 moved the full tuition refund date to the week BEFORE the final results were announced. Any freshman wanting out of the University after receiving her rush results would be subject to a 10% cut to her tuition and housing refund.

Keep in mind most freshmen do not have cars on campus so they would have to get their parents to drive to Dallas in their large SUV on snow / ice filled roads to pack and move her out. We just learned the University requires the student to be out of her dorm by Friday, January 26th at 5pm, a short 5 days after receiving her rush results, to prevent losing 50% of her housing refund. Extending the deadline through the weekend was Not Allowed to give parents time to drive to Dallas. A premeditated captive strategy to keep these 225+ newly shocked GDIs at SMU for the Spring semester. EVIL.

Most of the newly shocked GDIs were encouraged to proceed with COB to find a possible opening. Only sorority 7 & 8 were involved in COB this week. These were the sororities most were Not Interested In. Once realized of the GDI reality, it was Wednesday, far too late to transfer to another university or to ask your parents the short notice to make the dangerous wintery drive to Dallas.

It was pointed out that a vast majority of the top 6 sorority PCs were pre-determined. Only a few true openings were actually available to the non-connected. Fall Sophomore rush is very similar to COB. Only sorority 7 & 8 usually take pledges. Those Sophomores that go through recruitment a second time in the Spring are usually cut early and are given bids from sorority 7 & 8 again. Once cut always cut. Sorority 7 may cut you as a sophomore.

Pretty depressing. Tonight, my roommate and many of the newly pledged girls are out at sorority parties. The 10 -12 newly GDIs on our floor are studying or watching the Shopping Network. We did nothing to deserve this social isolation. Just obeyed the recruitment rules and trusted the top 6 sororities with their verbal bid encouragement. We are stuck here as social outcasts by design of the University and PanHELLenic.

January 2019 Post

There were @700 PNM ladies going through Rush this week. Each of the 8 sororities had @60 open membership openings, 480 total. Most of the PNMs wanted to join one of the top 6 sororities, 360 total.

There are 250 to 300 disappointed, depressed newly sHoCkEd GDIs freshmen PNMs tonight. SMU must offer better social life options if they want almost $100,000 per year in total costs each year. Relying almost exclusively on Greek Life for a campus social life only serves those entitled, privileged 360 legacy ladies that join their sister's, mommies', grand mommies' top 6 sorority each year.

2018 Summer Post

The above response posts are obviously from PanHELLenic and sorority members 7 & 8. After reading these factual posts from ladies brutalized during the 2018 recruitment, I agree and sympathize with them.

PanHELLenic again allowed legacies to engulf the Pledge Classes of sororities 1-6. Leaving well over 300 freshman girls paying over $75,000+ a year to accept a bid from a sorority they were not interested in or be a GDI / GEED. Most of these 300 girls transferred to other universities. SMU must make changes to its recruitment or face another disastrous failure in 2019.

Demand the "Spring 2021 Legacy Disclosure Report".

PNMs must be aware of the legacy dominance in each PC for the past 3 years. If panHELLenic refuses, UNITE and drop from Spring Recruitment at this months first PNM orientation meeting.

PNMs have the most POWER NOW.
As a LARGE tuition paying group.
UNITE or be split apart by panHELLenic after recruitment is over.

panHELLenic 👿 should have forewarned the Spring PNMs about the very low probability of getting a bid from the top 3 sororities as a non-legacy. Also about the real probability of not getting a bid from the mid 3 sororities unless the PNM is a legacy or already knows a ton of members. 🤨

Spring GDI sHoCk is the most as severe at SMU. A complete " social metamorphosis " from the Fall semester. Severe Greek sorority cliques develop resulting in GDI isolation on most evenings and weekends. The newly shocked GDI is ready to transfer away as soon as she finishes her last Spring semester final. 😞

There are 285 New Shocked GDIs tonight.
Sororities 1 - 3 gave @5 non-legacy bids each.
Sororities 4 - 6 gave @15 non-legacy bids each.

If not, 250 freshmen may transfer from SMU.

Full, transparent disclosures must be required for this Fall-Spring semester's recruitment. 😱

A written statement from the university must be read and presented in the early Fall semester Panhellenic Orientation Meeting to these PNM freshmen girls, giving the actual recruitment results from the past 5 years.

An actual percent of "legacy versus non-legacy" percentages for each participating sorority must be fully disclosed to them at that time. 😱

There are 450 to 500 disappointed, depressed newly sHoCkEd GDIs freshmen PNMs 😵 tonight.

SMU must offer better social life options if they want almost $100,000 per year in total costs each year.

Relying almost exclusively on Greek Life for a campus social life only serves those entitled, privileged 360 legacy girls that join their sister's, mommies', grand mommies' top 5 sorority each year.

This is the first of many lonely weekends for these emotionally harmed girls.

The real question is why does 1 person not at SMU care so much about legacies.

After her parents paid $50 grand for another SMU semester, she has to tell them about being cut from the sorority/s she wanted to join. This is after during the holidays, telling them about how these top sororities expressed great interest in her.

Her mom did not tell her about the numerous weekends she had to donate, her time, labor and contributions to various causes to secure the numerous RECs required for SMU recruitment. Her mom still has 4-5 more weekends of commitments to these "legacy moms" for their RECs. A great emotional and financial loss to this GDI and her family.

Being a GDI/Geed in such a Greek life socially dominated exorbitantly expensive university is impossible to validate. 🥺
