adpi & zeta

Why did Alpha Delta Pi and Zeta Tau Alpha leave SMU? Any word on if they could come back or other sororities possibly taking their houses?

I have heard from older Alum that Zeta was really good here. I have seen pictures, they definitely aren't horrendous. They also said they were suspiciously kicked off at the same time as the death penalty, but she could never get a Zeta to tell her what really happened.

Also, KD used to be on campus. What happened to them??

Closed in the 1970s due to numbers. This was right after the hippie/Vietnam era, and many people still thought Greek life was uncool.

KD has always been horrible everywhere in Texas and most other places outside the deep south. Weak sauce sorority

Gamma Phi has very strong chapters in Oklahoma, and has done well at A&M.

As an SMU alum and ADPi from the 70's and also an Aggie Mom and big contributor to both schools, I'm ashamed of the people making these comments and can only pray they aren't actual students of either school. We always made quota in the 70's. This ranking currently has Kappa, Theta and Chi O as 3 bottom ranked sororities and I find that impossible to believe so I wouldn't put much stock into anything this says!! As for Mmmm…you obviously aren't a student at TAMU because that statement is against everyone the Code of Honor Stands for.

I'm not in this house but I wanted to comment that they don't deserve to be in this conversation. They've made magnificent improvement just during the time I've been here. I have worked with some of their girls in projects and campus activities and they're really nice, attractive, intelligent girls. They do have fairly new (sorry, I don't know exactly how recent) chapters at A&M and TCU that are doing very well. I'd say they're not in the conversation of getting kicked out or losing their charter.

I'm laughing at hmmmm. Check your facts. Kyra Lee was an ADPi in 1983 & Cotton Bowl Queen. Many of campus beauties known as Rotunda Beauties in those days were from the ADPi sorority. When college became expensive, people dropped sororities and they are not as popular anymore. Frankly no one was overweight then, not like today.

I know this is a little off topic, but does anyone know why Delta Zeta is a silent chapter at SMU? I see it listed but can't find any reasoning.

It is appalling to see some of the comments. I hope those people will take a hard look at themselves.

ZTA was a popular house and lost a pledge class due to rush violations in the late '70s. Struggled to gain ground after that and eventually closed. Simple as that ... nothing, absolutely nothing, to do with the football scandal.

The horrible murder of a Sister in 1984 hurt the chapter, along with Panhellenic issues. The Chapter ended up closing because they couldn’t recover. Hope we will return
