It's funny how people outside fiji, pike, and sae say that only the kids in fiji, pike, and sae consider themselves top tier and no one else does. The reason those three currently have top their status is because of the girls that those fraternities attract and the fact that they are the most competitive in terms of rushes. It's not like we get together and pick names out of a hat and the first three that are chosen get to be top tier, so I just don't understand your guys arguments

Do all the fraternities give out more bids than they expect to get? How many bids does the average fraternity give out? they can't give out too many I would think cause then they would risk having too many pledges.

they have to give out more to be safe. they all give out at least 50 and never take more than 30

Some are able and choose to be more selective/targeted than this. Without naming the fraternity, I know of one that in 2013 issued only 40 bids (focusing on quality/fit); 85% of these bids were accepted; and the chapter is very pleased with the resulting quality and quantity of its pledge class. This reflects a strong chapter that is continuing its multi-year ascent. Because of delayed rush at SMU, all fraternities and prospective new members have ample opportunity to determine their best fits and I encourage all to let "best fits", not some misplaced idea of "rankings", guide your approaches.

2013 pledge class rankings? Would appreciate it if a non- pike, sae, or fiji answered this one

Repeating a bit of advice from my reply to #395, forget about trying to obtain a useful ranking of the fraternities. Focus instead on trying to identify those where the "fit" between you and the fraternities is best. The beauty of the process at SMU is that you have an entire semester to get your feet on the ground and get to know the guys with whom you might be brothers before formal rush occurs--the week before spring semester begins. So relax and take full advantage of this opportunity. And if you decide you don't want to join a fraternity your freshman year or at all, then
that is a respectable decision also. Good luck.

Pike and SAE were both really good again this year, easily the top two,
FIJI just ok, slight step down
Phi Delt and Sig ep just below FIJI
KA, Lambda, Beta were about normal
then Sigma Chi and Kappa Sig

398's ranks are perfect except i would move phi delt higher than sig chi, and and possibly higher than fiji. other than that i agree
