giving gdis a platform
by: lookTVHello guys! I am a part of the Look TV staff for this semester. I want to do a story on those of you who are GDIs and/or had rough rush experiences. If you would be interested in being interviewed and having the chance to share your side/story please email me at aejensen1998@gmail.com

Yep, our sorority Recruitment Committee had the list of 50 legacies we had to honor with bids by Halloween. Leaving the Chapter with about 10 outstanding bids to tease 700 PNMs.
Pref & Bid Day should happen the (weekend before Thanksgiving). All of the sororities are prepared to complete our recruitment efforts by then. After 5 recruitments, it is obvious the university wants to wait until mid-January to release our recruitment results to capture all of these Newly Shocked GDIs for the Spring semester.
Its all about Spring Tuition & Housing "Fee capture" for the university. We know about 300 PNMs would not return to the university if they received our recruitment results by Thanksgiving. A lousy thing to do to these 300 girls each year.

@SMU Mom
If 650 girls go through the process, and no one is dropped from all the groups due to gpa or because they slept with an active's boyfriend 1st semester, and no one drops out because they don't like the houses that they have on their invites, then all 650 would get a bid to one of the groups and we'd have new member classes of 80+. The 55-60 is not a predetermined number. It's the number of pnms attending preference divided by the number of chapters (roughly).
The problem is too many girls want to be in a certain chapter and not everyone is going to be in the chapter of their dreams.

Wait, do these girls think that because their parents paid so much for their school they should get the sorority of their choice? It seems like it. Life sure isn't like that!
Also, no national sorority would force a chapter to take legacies these days. Recruitment barely involves actives anymore.
