Does anyone have an estimate of how many girls transferred out of SMU this semester after dropping out of spring rush 2020?

I heard that three girls were able to transfer before the deadline with full refund.

It's not. Thank goodness the lady writing the "critical news for 750 new gdis" is just mad that her daughter didn't get in the house she wanted last year or the year before. Most girls either join another house or are happy without one. Don't worry.

750 PNMs
360 1-6 sorority openings
300+ 1-6 sorority legacy-honored bids given
60 or less 1-6 sorority non-legacy bids available
75 or less joined sororities 7-8
Over 300 Newly Shocked GDIs remaining....
COB lasted past the 50% tuition & Housing refund deadline.

300+ Newly Shocked GDIs Entrapped for the Spring Semester. It has been this way for decades now....

SMU Recruitment is designed by Panhellenic and the university as a "Bait & Switch" Entrapment for over 750 PNMs. Panhellenic painted us a picture during the Fall semester of the thriving social life of sororities 1-6. Saying how this lengthy, grueling 2 semester recruitment will be worth it by joining these elite privileged sororities.

In reality, sororities 1-6 are saturated in legacies. Less than 60 non-legacy girls were given bids to these sororities. The university made over 750 pnms wait until mid-January to get the recruitment results. This was after the 90% tuition & housing deadlines were in effect. Giving Newly Shocked GDIs just a few days until the 50% refund kicked-in. Essentially entrapping all of the Newly Shocked GDIs for the Spring semester.

Panhellenic as in years past, pushed COB to us knowing only sororities 7 & 8 were involved. This extra time pushed us past the 50% tuition & housing deadlines. We are trapped taking at least 6 hours of courses this semester that will not transfer to most other universities.

Yep, our sorority Recruitment Committee had the list of 50 legacies listed we had to honor with bids by Halloween. Leaving the Chapter with about "10 outstanding bids to tease 700 PNMs".

Pref & Bid Day should happen the (weekend before Thanksgiving). All of the sororities are prepared to complete our recruitment efforts by then. After 5 recruitments, it is obvious the university wants to wait until mid-January to release our recruitment results to capture all of these Newly Shocked GDIs for the Spring semester.

Its all about Spring Tuition & Housing "Fee capture" for the university. We know about 300 PNMs would not return to the university if they received our recruitment results by Thanksgiving. A lousy thing to do to these 300 girls each year.

HA!... you do realize that none of what you keep posting OVER AND OVER makes any sense? If your 300 newly shocked GDIs has stayed the course they would have received a bid. PERIOD. And if they had done that very thing. RFM would have ensured that every single house would have had more bids to offer because quota would have increased for everyone. That’s how it works AT EVERY CAMPUS that follows RFM. But when PNMs decide they are too good (“didn’t feel a connection 🙄) for some houses and drop rather than ACTUALLY giving them a chance, it hurts the entire system. You either want to be involved in Greek life or you don’t. If you make the decision you would rather be a GDI than be in any house, that’s your decision and it may be the right one for you. But that is on YOU, not on the system.

Well....

I am in my freshmen dorm preparing transfer applications for UT and my home state university. So far, I counted 18 other girls doing the same thing on my dorm floor. I cannot believe SMU would risk losing over 200 freshmen girls each year to GDI shock.

The change from Fall to Spring semesters is stunning. We are attractive, socially active GDI ladies that are being treated as if we had leprosy. Just a few more months of this social isolation and we are out of here!

We the 250 newly shocked GDIs would like to schedule a meeting at an SMU on-campus conference room to express our grievances with you and the university. First, please identify yourself so we address you formally. If not, stay-off GR with your entitled, EVIL, non-empathetic comments towards us.

...If you really are preparing an application to transfer to UT and "your home university," I suggest you save your time with that UT application. As an out of state student, your chances to transfer in as a sophomore are zilch.

Save that application fee and go buy yourself something pretty at Forever 21.

Not sure to laugh or cry at this serial poser poster. Neither - I’m scared. Um, someone needs to turn this into a Lifetime movie script. Scratch that, no more oxygen needed for her rant. Lady, no one is onboard w your BS agenda of Panhel/SMU conspiracy and u do not live in a “freshman dorm”. Seek help immediately so you can put this energy into something productive. It’s time for reality.

I want to hear about the restraining order. I know that a college in Alabama had to take one out on a mom.

Where do I even start? Do you think Panhellenic is reading this? Or that they have to bow to your demands? Yeah, if this is for real, you contact the Panhellenic Office to schedule your meeting in which you (laughing here) demand that the so-called Shocked 250 (probably more like 8) demand that you (your daughter) be placed immediately into the sorority of her choice. See how far that goes.

Y’all know that, statistically, there is not enough room in the sororities you deem worthy of your special selves to let in everyone who wants to join, right? The miscommunication seems that YOU seem to think that you would fit well into the houses you wanted while the sororities you wanted felt differently. You preferred to be a GDI instead of pledging a place that would have welcomed you do just live with it. The Greek world isn’t really that big and the sororities at the school you go will know you didn’t make the cut at SMU do they might decide to take a pass on secondhand goods,

5th year stat senior, I think you must be a troll because we both know sorority membership data is secret and if you were on a sorority you would never post what you did. Not to mention that it’s false.
