harsh reality of life
by: FyiNot everyone gets what they want. If you are disappointed because you didn’t get a bid to sorority 1-6, too bad. There are two sororities with amazing girls that would love to have you. If you are as astounding as you say, then use those attributes to make 7 & 8 the top sororities here. It can be done. It happens all the time. Life isn’t fair and YOU chose to go to SMU and rush. Stop whining about Panhellenic and either transfer or join one of the amazing sororities that are participating in cob. Your constant posts are rude and offensive to the wonderful girls who chose to make the best of rush.

We are allowed to be frustrated. We are allowed to cry that the process isn’t right, when we go through formal recruitment, and many girls feel forced into a sorority that we would end up paying for, but receiving fewer social opportunities and more social stigma at SMU. We’re allowed to care about what fraternities we mix with. We’re allowed to care that for more girls to get in top sororities, sorority 8 needs to start reaching quota (which hasn’t happened in years) and we’re allowed to be frustrated about that, because as harsh as it sounds, sorority alumnae status in Dallas, frat relations in college, and social status do matter to us, and we don’t get that with certain sororities on campus.

So it’s insulting to decline a bid but not insulting to be cut? Think what you’re saying. Rush is a two way street. There’s nothing wrong with any sorority at SMU, I agree. Don’t get me wrong. But just because a certain sorority offers a bid doesn’t mean a pnm has to accept it or the pnm is labeled as insulting. Every pnm is unique just like every sorority. And if a pnm doesn’t feel a connection to a sorority why should she be labeled as insulting to decline a bid?

Actually, SMU is known for social status only, and not for its academics. Seems like students should already know this before coming here, especially if you're from Texas. SMU is not respected AT ALL as an academically challenging school compared to UT, TAMU, TCU, and even Texas Tech. Baylor is also an expensive private school, but not nearly as much emphasis is placed on social status/sororities there.

Your maturity is amazing!
"I transferred universities because I did not get my first choice in sororities" is going to go over so well in job interviews and grad school applications.
My guess is your grades are not that great, either.
Yep, nothing says "character" like running away like an immature spoiled brat.
Oh, and your hopes of being PKT at another school and transferring back to SMU? ZERO.
