hypothetical transfer question

by: hey girls

If a girl pledged kkg school where it's a bottom house, could she transfer to smu and be a kappa or would they reject her for not being top or at least middle tier at her old school.

All houses are onto that game. No is the answer you’re looking for.

Depends - definitely need to explain WHY she needed to transfer to SMU vs staying where she originally pledged. Ie, a Highland Park girl who goes pledges Kappa at West New Mexico State and then immediately transfers to SMU after initiation....that is too obvious.

Actually, houses are supposed to take their sisters that transfer from another college. Happens all the time.

Actually - that’s not how always how it works. Each sorority has a national policy about how transfers are handled.

In mine the transfer is allowed to attend non-ritual meetings and events for a month or two before deciding if she wants to affiliate at the new campus. If she does, the chapter takes a vote to confirm. If she doesn’t or if the chapter voted no (I would assume due to character issues most often?), she is still a member of our sorority but not affiliated with the chapter on her new campus.

I think transfers almost always affiliate (I mean you need a BIG reason to reject a sister) but the system is in place because of those rare situations. And also to prevent 20 girls from pledging at East Arkansas State or whatever and being able to transfer right into top tier houses at SMU/UT/Arkansas/etc to game the system.

@Transfer is correct. Just about every sorority nationals lets their chapters decide whether to allow someone to affiliate or not. There is no such thing as 'supposed to take their sisters.' Chapter vary so much from school to school that best fit at one doesn't mean it would be true at another. AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TIERS OR RANKINGS OR ANY OF THAT NONSENSE.

It will likely come down to how well she will fit into the chapter here & the specific sorority chapter.

Seems like a lot of work just to be in a specific sorority.
