financial aid and fraternities

by: Incoming freshman

Do guys on financial aid ever rush/get bids or is it just for the super rich? Especially top tier houses like Fiji and sig chi?

Not the 1980s.

Careful:
Sig Ep just restarted from suspension.
Delt just barely got out of Probo.
Both barely Middle Tier.
Consider it a gift.

Financial aid will not directly impact your ability to rush, but your ability to shell out money will. Fraternities may notice if you buy drinks or bottle or not at clubs or events, or your tastes, which is correlated with your wealth. Also, many of the fraternities have expensive dues, so this may impact your ability to pay.

This is with exception to SAE, who is known to zillow your home address and see how expensive your house is.

EX has some of the wealthiest and most chill guys on campus. They are top tier all the way.

No 18-22 year old college student is actually wealthy. Their parents are wealthy. They are a spoiled brat. Driving their Daddy's car and spending/ waisting their family's money.

When this brat financially supports himself for 10 years and can support a family, take another look. Half of them will continue to be a family leach while the other half may become a productive income producing component of our economy.

Find out what the dues are. Once you do, your decision will likely be an easy one. One thing that all social fraternities have in common is that each active member is expected to be able to meet his financial obligations. If you don't think you can or if you anticipate that you may have trouble doing this, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment and embarrassment.
