spring rush 2018 advice (sorority)
by: pnmI had a little trouble clicking with a lot of girls this semester as an incoming freshman. I met a lot of nice people, I just never formed a bond that seemed to last more than a couple times hanging out. I went on one “rush date” with an Alpha Chi and think it went pretty well... but other than that I just met sorority members out at parties, which I’m sure many of which didn’t remember and there was never follow up. Do I have a chance of getting a bid for a “top” or “middle” tier sorority. I don’t really care about sororities reputations- but just wondering if someone who doesn’t know any active members of that sorority has a chance at getting a bid?? Thanks for the help:-)

I think you need to be able to know specifically why you didn't click with many girls last semester and what will be different during rush. If you were shy and awkward and still are shy and awkward..it's going to be tough. If something else was going on that you feel you have resolved / conquered, then things might go better.
I would not expect a top house if you're not a legacy, don't have anyone pulling for you in the house, and aren't an exceptional PNM (4.0, campus leadership, etc).

Why do you want a top or middle house? Maybe you would fit better in a lower house. It seems like you're saying that you're too good for those houses but really all the houses at SMU are good and you're lucky if you get any of them. I'm not being mean, but I do think you should adjust your attitude and open your mind to other possibilities.
