what are the chances of an African American girl getting a bid from a Panhellenic chapter? Like are there some chapters that are more open than others etc? btw. honesty is appreciated.

There's a very high chance.
While some chapters are more known for their diversity, honestly if the girls like you, you could get in anywhere. Just get to know some girls in each house, and your chances will increase greatly.

While SMU is very southern in many ways, including recruitment, people here are open to diversity, including the sororities and fraternities. You'll have no problems. Just keep an open mind and go to any and all events held during the fall.

They're all pretty much open to diversity.

Oh, and keep your grades up!

You won't stand a chance with theta, piphi or kappa but you have a good chance with the rest of the houses.

Actually, Texas is the Southwest much more than it is the South. The Southwest has always valued people for who they are rather than how they look or who their parents are. I think racial diversity is much more prevalent in sororities in Texas than in say Mississippi or Alabama. Thank goodness!

It's still the south and Texas still has schools with some of the biggest and most competitive recruitments

Yeah you won't get into Kappa, Pi Phi, or Theta. Unless you're really rich and really hot. You should have not problems with the other sororities though.
