by:

I just trasferrwd to SMU from California and thinking about joining a sorority. I'm 24 and was thinking about liying about my age cause i feel like it weird it's kinda weird to join at this age! What do you guys think? Are they going to figure out my real age? On the application it's optional to write your age.

i wouldn't put down a new age, but you could omit your high school year/other dates on your resume. it's very hard to rush as a junior no matter how old you are

Better to be truthful with the goal of being friends with all ages in the sorority. There is nothing to be ashamed of for being in college at the age of 24. In fact, younger sisters could definitely learn from your experience if you've got a good story to share. If in fact, as the next post says that older sisters have their friends and wouldn't include you, You're better off not being part of the sorority. There are a million clubs at Smu, an a club may be a better choice. You could really make a difference and make connections in the community if you know why you're in college and what your goals are. Above all else especially at 24, one would think you're in college to find a career thT will bring you success and meaning in life

1) Why would a 24 year old want to be in a new member class with 18 year olds? Because that's who you are with mostly. You would have nothing in common with them and they would find you creepy as hell. The juniors and seniors have already bonded and have their close friend groups so you would not fit in with them either.
2) You would make a terrible, selfish sister to try to lie your way into membership. What you are proposing is highly unethical and I hope you would be found out and dropped for your dishonesty.
3) You are too desperate and immature for a 24 year old. You need to focus on graduating and life after college, not on trying to pretend you can have a do-over to be someone you aren't.

don't stress, sorority life isn't the only thing to do at SMU. If you want to apply APPLY and go through recruitment! Worst case you don't get into one. Be proud of who you are.
