strats
by: TU2020I'm transferring to temple as a sophomore and I really wanted to rush next fall but since I'll only be at temple a few weeks before recruitment starts I won't really get a chance to see what each sorority is like on-campus. I've been going through the discussions and reviews and just asking friends but I'm still really confused on some stuff. Like why is phi sig the only strat with a house? Do other sororities have one too and can they throw parties in them like the frats do? And if they can which strats throw the best ones? What are "mixers" and why do some frats and starts only have mixers with each other? Why is DZ and phi sig top tier and why is phi sig the most hated one? I know these are a bunch of questions but if someone could answer them for me that would really be great!

Other sororities have houses than Phi Sig, I believe that Phi Sig is the only house that has their letters up and yes girls live in the houses. AEPhi has the best parties. Mixers or socials are parties with a frat and a sorority usually hosted by the frat with a theme and they are closed (no geeds or other greeks until a certain time). All the orgs mix with each other, so it's not like certain frats only exclusively mix with certain sororitys. I wouldn't say phi sig is at the top nor would I say they are the most hated! DZ is top because they are the most attractive and don't have the worst record. I think DPhiE is probably more hated than Phi Sig now. I don't know if all orgs will host an informal this fall but the ones that do will have events for you to come meet them. Each org has a different vibe – DZ are the pretty blonde girls and have the classic sorority feel to them, DPhiE is also attractive and cares a lot about philanthropy, Phi Sig girls are nice and smart, AEPhi cares a lot about sisterhood and they are big partiers and like to have fun, AXiD is new still and they don't have a good rep yet but they have sweet girls and there are some pretty ones. They all have negative conotations too so don't listen to what this site says, just go to tables and events and meet the sisters for yourself!

Usually sororities dont have open parties so it doesn't matter. Don't join a sorority for partying because it's just a small facet of greek life (even for aephi)
