question

So I'm gonna be a transfer sophomore next fall 2017. I want to rush in the fall rather than wait for spring, but considering I would go through informal recruitment I'd have to make a decision going in not knowing much about anything. What I do know is that I would most likely wanna rush either Delta Zeta or Delta Phi. In the chance that they both go out for informal in the fall, I'd have to pick one to rush over the other. Is there any advice or differences anyone would have to share about one or the other? Non-biased would be preferred as there's a lot of self ranking on here, but I would still appreciate a dead honest response. I currently know girls in each of these sororities, and am close with both groups. It seems pretty half and half to me as far as their ratings go and I don't feel one is better than the other. With that being said, please leave some insight as to what could maybe sway my opinion on my choice. I'd hate to go off of a website as joining a sorority is a life long thing, but this is just a small fraction of how my decision would be made and will not be taken too heavily. Thank you!!!!!

If you're looking for mild partying and good, deep friends: go DPhiE. If you're looking for really pretty, big partyers (fun), but less sisterhood do DZ

Hi! I'd say they're both pretty similar nowadays and girls in each sorority have friends in the other. If we're being honest DZ is top but Deeph is a close second on campus. Deeph was always known for philanthropy and DZ was always known for pretty party girls but I don't know if/how that's changed. I heard both are kinda shallow though so be careful. I doubt they will both do informal though so if one does informal I would go to their events and see if you like them. But it's possible neither of them will do informal. It's really just about who you fit in better with, I know that's vague but it's true!:)

Attend their events if they have any but if you're unsure, wait till formal. Tons of sophomores go through and I'm glad I waited because the organizations I thought I liked ended up being meh at recruitment and the ones I wasn't interested in before I really liked

Honestly they're very similar. Both have really hot girls. The only difference is that Delta Phi does a lot of philanthropy work.

These all seem biased. Here's my honest opinion

When I went out I didn't care who did the most philanthropy, who hangs out with who, who's top tier, etc. maybe it's wrong to admit that I didn't care about some important things (like academics and philanthropy) but I didn't care about the shallow ones either (ranks). I cared about hanging with people I felt comfortable with.

I made the closest friends ever in my sorority. We aren't perfect but I don't care. I have no regrets to this day. I think girls like to pick orgs that look the best "on paper" so to speak. But I find these girls end up the most unhappy.

No matter what org you join just make sure you'll enjoy spending time with them doing things you like to do. People will bash whichever one you choose and you have to feel confident enough in your decision for it to not bother you. After being in Greek life I feel like it's not about partying. It's not about being pretty.its not about who has the most bake sales or raises the most money. It's about finding a group who are your everything. Your support system. Your people.

Also don't let a sororities reputation ruin it for you. People say horrible things about my org and maybe some people judge me for being in it, but other people once getting to know me fully admit I'm nothing like that. I'd rather be in an org I like and prove people wrong about their assumptions, than be in one I don't like very much just because I care too much other people think about it.
