should the school encourage locals to get chartere

As a sister of a local sorority, I can say that if I had any interest in joining a national organization, I would have done so. I pledged my sorority because I absolutely love all my sisters, my sorority's values, and the past 50 years of tradition we have experienced on this campus. I love being part of something that is unique to Geneseo and having a connection with each and every sister, past and present. The school's administration can NEVER take that away from us. If people want to join national organizations, they are free to do so, and the same should be true for every organization. No one should be encouraging or pressuring us to change who we are.

Yes they should seek National Charters. As much as I respect the local greeks, they really have nothing to offer students that want to be part of the greek community. Sure they have not national fee to pay, but they also do not have scholarships and financial aid available like the national greeks do. They do not sponsor leadership training like UIFI offered by the NIC, events like conventions and conclaves, national awards and recognition, a large Alumni network and even a chance to apply for positions to work at the IHQ. But then again, that is my opinion.

To "NPC" this is simply not true. My local sorority has a financial aid and scholarship available to sisters who can apply for it. We also not only a very large alumni base, but the largest in the school. Same can be said about other locals because some of us have been on this campus for over one hundred years. Most nationals came much later, as late as 1990s. And everything else about the jobs we "cannot" get is also not true.
