what is silent day

i know its the day before bid day but does it mean they aren't allowed to talk to the rushes or something?

It basically means girls in the sorority aren't allowed to wear letters on campus and talk to rushes about rush related things, host rush events or go on rush lunches. Its to prevent people from unfairly swaying potential new members before they final pref.
