Honestly, it does mean something. Shows that there's someone in it pulling for you, putting your name out there. If nobody in a local knows you enough to talk about you then you don't have a good shot.

It doesn't really matter that much. I know people who got into ago in previous years who were worried about similar things in December/January. It doesn't mean you don't have a shot, it just means you should try to get to know the girls better. I also know a girl in ago who didn't even meet or start rushing them until formal rush and she got in. Thats rare for ago, but the point is you shouldn't let little things like that discourage you.
If you are worried that they don't know you, and you want to really get your name out there you should Facebook message the admin of their Facebook recruitment group and introduce yourself as a rush. This holds true for any sorority. Depending on the sorority, they might invite u to hang out or go out to a party with them or eat with them to get to know you better or they may just tell you about upcoming rush events.

I think they're probably going to take a pledge class with larger numbers than typically, like they did 2 years ago - that's what I heard from my friends in it. And, honestly you really only have a chance of getting in now without rushing this fall if you're a sophomore unless you find a girl who really really really wants you as her little.
