sdt vs ago

Both have the same type of girl, except SDT is national. Both are really popular, but AGO hazes harder.

they rush and attract similar types of rushes, but they have some key differences from each other

1. Size/Local vs. National/Difficulty of receiving a bid: AGO (alpha kappa phi) is much smaller than SDT (sigma delta tau). AGO is local so they don't have a quota, so they only take who they love, and they like to be exclusive so they take fewer girls (usually around 20). SDT has to take a minimum of 40 girls every year. Since AGO is smaller they seem closer to each other. On the down side AGO is the hardest sorority to receive a bid from and I heard over 150 rushes are dropped before their formal round in rush. but I don't know if that was my friend being dramatic because she was dropped or if thats true so don't quote me on that. From what I've seen your best bet of getting into AGO is trying to make yourself known to them first semester by going to their events and tables. Same tactic holds true for SDT but with SDT its slightly more doable to just go to formal recruitment and still get a bid. It's still not easy to get into SDT though. The hardest sororities to get into are AGO, SDT, AOPi, and as of this past year - Kappa.

2. Party Attitude: Both go out a lot but AGO goes out more than SDT does.

3. Grades: They both have girls who do really well and girls who do really poorly. but overall I think SDT has a higher GPA.

4. Personality: AGO is chill funny and fun. SDT girls are a little less relaxed, a little more focused on grades and other extracurricular activities and more concerned with their image than AGO. AGO is extremely close as an entire sorority. SDT is larger so there is more of an emphases on friend groups within the sorority. My friends in AGO usually pregame with their entire pledge class/sometimes other pledge classes too. My friends in SDT usually pregame with their closer friends.

5. Drama: AGO has some drama between members, but not much. Their main source of drama is their conflict with the school. I don't know much about this though because my friends in AGO are super secretive about this. I just know that the school caught them hazing the new girls this year. SDT hazes too but nationals have less problems with the school for hazing so they don't have drama with the school. Their main source of drama is within the sorority. sometimes there are conflicts between the friend groups within the sorority and some of the girls dislike each other.

Summary: I have very close friends in both sororities that I have been friends with since they rushed and pledged freshman year. My friends in each of these sororities are happy with their choice, and have no regrets. You can't go wrong with either house. AGO is slightly above SDT in terms of "tier" but both are considered top in the greek community. usually if someone is wanted by both houses they choose AGO but there are definitely exceptions to that. If u get a bid to AGO or SDT you should b proud to wear either of their letters on campus

Both are equally hated and snobby.
