re: now what

First of all, I could write a 10 page essay on the situation that is currently going on right now with Penn State Greek Life. I'll keep it short
First, I can't believe Penn State would release this statement about the sanctions to Greek Life the day of THON starting. It is totally taking the energy and excitement out of anyone who is participating in THON that is a member of Greek Life.
What the University has done is only going to make things worse. Kids are going to be more sneaky about drinking, such as apartments and other off campus houses, and will only result in more underage students receiving underages.
I feel extremely bad about Tim Piazza and his family and if this was a hazing related incident, those involved should face the consequences and the fraternity deserves to be kicked off.
I wouldn't be surprised if after THON members of Greek Life either A) held socials anyway as an act of rebelling or B) protested against the University.
There's so many more intended and unintended consequences because of what the University has done and it's definitely going to be interesting to see what will happen in the coming weeks.

It's time to lower the drinking age to 19. It's no surprise that just about everyone in college drinks even underage. Maybe if people weren't afraid to call the cops on someone who needs help out of fear of getting them in trouble a lot more lives would be saved. Just something to think about
