cant afford panhellenic, are clubs basically the s

After asking how much my friends' dues are, i realized there's no way for me to rush a sorority. Are the clubs the same? I know trilogy, gamma sigma sigma, and esa are all paired with fraternities for thon but I'm wondering what the major differences are otherwise. Also are dues significantly less than Panhellenic sororities? I know this is for Greek organizations but don't know who else to ask. Thanks!

There are many differences between joining a club and a Greek organization. And there are lots of clubs at PSU who participate in THON, if that is your specific interest. Joining a Greek organization will open a world to you beyond just your 4 years on campus. You will have networking opportunities with alumni all over the world. You can join Alumni chapters wherever you live and stay involved with your sorority for the rest of your life. Clubs like those you mentioned won't offer that. Of course, costs are higher because you are supporting an international organization vs. just a local club. If I were in your shoes, I would find a club that was based around my interests so that I was meeting women that had something in common vs. just not being able to afford Greek life, or not getting a bid during rush; which is who these groups attract.

^ people like to get salty about trilogy and was having better social schedules than them but they are both cheap, maybe 80 bucks a semester

I would never want to associate myself with an organization whose history stems from getting thrown off campus for hazing. There are great fraternities associated with major etc which are much better for networking and are much more respected.

Trilogy was founded after Tri-Delt was thrown off campus for hazing. Creating a THON interest group was their way of trying to keep their chapter alive. Now they just get girls who can't get a bid through recruitment or can't afford Greek membership. If Tri-Delt ever would return to campus none of these people would even get a bid.

Both of my parents were Greek. I grew up watching them getting together with their sisters/brothers my entire life. This is a huge benefit of being Greek. If you can't afford it, I would check out clubs in your major. You will make connections while here at PSU that provide lots of fun AND help you build a network for the future.
