You're right, their time has finally arrived as we now see racial and social injustice exposed in the protests and riots today - Mary Jane Urbanski (Grey) led the way, along with her dear friend, Andy Freeman at the Philadelphia Urban League promoting racial peace. We need them now more than ever to heal our deeply divided nation. Rest in peace, Mary Jane and Andy, your time has come.

Great historic sorority chapter in Buffalo known for promoting racial equality. Though no longer active, these young women rose from the ashes of the 1968 race riots to become leaders in the movement for social and racial justice.

On her anniversary, fond memories of Mary Jane Urbanski (Mary Jane Gray) who fought racial inequality after a very hard time with her family and survived poverty by any means possible, became a champion for African-Americans. Her lifelong affair with her boss, Andy Freeman, also survived (though he was married to another) the racial hatred they encountered from both black and white folks. Their work at the Philadephia Urban League will stand the test of time.

Unfortunately the young folks have no sense of history and the remarkable achievements of Erna, Andy and Mary Jane Urbanski. In light of the Buffalo racial riots today, their valiant efforts for racial equality need to be commemorated and celebrated ever more!

Thanks aml. Unfortunately, UB Grad, Mary Jane Gray ( born Urbanski in Buffalo, NY) has passed away 1942 - 2013 in La Mesa, CA. She will be sadly missed by her beloved family, as she was the first to graduate college. After UB, she worked diligently with Andy Freeman at the Philadelphia Urban League promoting racial justice. Upon early retirement, she married Richard Gray, but unfortunately had no children of her own. However, she did volunteer many years in local schools teaching children.
