breaking news - no more hard liquor at frats
by: lol
“Hundreds of fraternity houses across the US will no longer allow frat members to serve hard liquor, according to a self-governing policy announced Tuesday in the wake of growing outrage over alcohol-related hazing deaths.
The North-American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) policy effectively means that most of the nation's fraternities cannot dole out strong booze unless it is served by a licensed third-party vendor.”
It’s true. Google it. Y’all gonna keep making the same Sigep cracks now that you’re all essentially in the same boat?

"All national fraternities affiliated with the North American Interfraternity Conference will be prohibited from having hard alcohol in their chapter facilities and at their events starting Sept. 1, 2019. The ban will affect eight fraternities at Yale: Alpha Delta Phi, Alpha Epsilon Pi, Chi Psi, Delta Kappa Epsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Nu, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Zeta Psi."
Basically this means every frat EVERYWHERE can't serve hard alcohol at parties. Are they going to follow that rule? Probably not. But people can stop making tired old posts about Sigep because aside from LEO every frat is affected by this....

SigEp knows that the hardest part of the transition from drinking club to a substance-free service organization is making this philosophical shift in the membership and community. Most of our current members didn’t sign up for a dry chapter house with no pong tables or Fireball shots. The National fraternity is supporting chapter leaders who are really bought in to making SigEp a substance-free chapter at Yale. We can be confident that SigEp is on the right path. It will somewhat different, and certainly a lot less risky social program than what we had, but it will be an even stronger brotherhood with real accountability when brothers make bad choices.

Students go to college to develop personally and professionally. Some fraternity facilities house brothers in environments that harm rather than help those goals by forcing brothers to go elsewhere to study during parties-- but SigEp's new program to have a substance-free facility provides a very conducive environment for doing what students go to college to do.
