some advice for tonight
by: .....
Go to all of your pretap events. If you have to leave early, thank the seniors for hosting you as you head out. You have nothing to lose by being nice to people--this society obviously already likes you since they invited you. And if you're rude to one society because you were hoping for another, just know that people talk.
Be aware that some of your friends might not have gotten pretapped for anything. Be kind!
It's actually very rare that someone ends up in their "ideal" situation, so be flexible, get over yourself, and have fun. Society (at least for most people) isn't about alumni networks or tombs, it's about getting to know a group of people you might not have met otherwise. It's weird and unnecessarily exclusive and problematic at times, but ultimately not nearly as big a deal as people make it out to be during tap season.
